We escaped to Shah's resort in Tanjung Keling, Melaka the weekend of Hafeez's cousin Fendi's wedding recently. Umar's old man wanted to get away from unwanted phone calls from the plant! I of course gladly embraced the idea and, after a check on the Net and a quick phone call, there we were in this jewel of a resort. I'd recommend this place anytime. Good value for money, quaint and nice.
Umar had a splashing time indeed in his 2nd pool dip. Look at the pics to see how much he's grown!

Was in Tokyo for a week to attend the Nomura Investors Forum and had a blast! Brought Umar and Maklong Noni along (to help take care of Umar while I was at the conference). Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Nihonbashi, which was excellent. Umar was an absolute darling and took to the winter weather like duck to water.
Tokyo was fantastic and thoroughly an exciting city to visit. Would love to visit again, next time with Hafeez or my family too!

Yes, I now have a son! (Still feel excited saying that after two months). Nothing in the whole wide world beats the experience of conceiving, carrying for 9 months, and giving birth to your child.
Umar Faruq bin Hafeez arrived at 8.49am on Thursday, Sept 14, 2006, by emergency caesarean (it's a long story) at Gleneagles Hospital. After going through the operation and pantang period without much hiccup (Alhamdulillah, thank you God!) I would love to have more children soon. Umar is such a joy and is a blessing that I thank Allah for again and again every single day.

congratulations....kirim salam to all...really miss everybody Thu 15-May-2008 20:09

Umrah trip May 1-12, 2006 - An unforgettable trip!

If any young Muslims were to hesitate on going to the Holy land for the mini-pilgrimage that is the umrah, I would strongly urge them to think again. The trip renews you and grounds you to your core; and reminds you on what's important in life and what's not. Plus, it's really not as hot as I thought it would be - maybe that extra bonus in faith gives you that added energy to withstand anything!
Anyway, we had a blast, all 12 of us - including Along's kids. Marsya and Zareef loved it there, especially the air zam-zam, which somehow tastes so good, especially in Masjidil Nabawi and Masjidil Haram.

Salam to you and family. It's been quite a while since we were classmates in 5 Arif SMSMr. Your latest Umrah photos really brings sweet memories to me coz I was there in Holy Land in 2004. Glad you've made it! Insya-Allah the next time would be Haji. - farouq78@yahoo.com

That night, a tea ceremony and dinner reception was held at the Jakarta Marriot. Ben was such a sport, while new brothers Simon and Andre goofed around. I made the biggest fumble of the night by asking Michael and Jenny how long they'd been married. As it turned out, they weren't even a couple! Cringe factor!!

hi trying to get in contact with james isilay, if u can pass on my email address to him wud be great!!! pcbeavis@hotmail.com cheers paul (ex mod) Tue 24-Jan-2006 21:57

Alhamdulillah, I had the pleasure of attending my beloved friend Andrea Kam's wedding in Jakarta recently. It was a beautiful white wedding and the first church ceremony for me, while the bride and groom looked so gorgeous and happy together! Another beloved friend was Mel who flew in from Hong Kong the day before me - thank God for her, because if she wasn't there then I would have been alone.

Andrea looked absolutely radiant and beaming with happiness with her Ben, while Mel is now so feminine and sensible that I almost had to double check when I first saw her. It was so great to see the two of them, and while I wish we had more time with Andrea, I really cherish the time with them because I don't know when the heck would we all be together again!

Raya! Raya! Raya!

We spent two days of Raya at my arwah nenek's house in Rasah, Seremban. The whole extended family was there (even cousins studying in Sarawak and Perlis) except for Angah (she wasn't exactly the happiest bunny on 1st Raya), who came later in the evening. Time spent with family members is indeed one of the most precious and priceless things in the world.
We then went back to PJ to visit Hafeez's maternal grandma and some aunts, before taking the night train to Tanah Merah, Kelantan for a visit to his paternal grandparents' house.
All in all, a deeply satisfying Raya.. it was just a shame that my birthday was the eve of Raya, not on the day itself, which would have made it much more fun!

Extremely sad

After getting cheated on by a freelance travel agent during our first initial plan to visit Bali in the first week of September 2005 (which is another story altogether), my family and I finally got to spend our dream 4 days' vacation in Bali during the last weekend of September (22-25th Sept), little more than a week ago. Although the original group halved in size from 20 to 10 people, we were unperturbed, raring to go and determined to have fun.
The 4 days spent there was a bliss. Bali had everything anyone would want in a holiday - sunshine, natural wonders such as the beach and live volcanoes, fantastic shopping, beautiful architecture and unspoilt culture. The people of Bali captured our hearts with their friendly disposition and peaceful mannerism. Our tour guide was charming, kind and witty, our driver quiet, shy but has twinkling eyes, and hotel and restaurant staffs were helpful and friendly. We were happy to see the island had recovered from its 2002 bombing, with bustling streets, handicraft centres full of tourists, and surfers riding the giant blue waves.
Now we are shocked and saddened by the latest series of bombings which occured at the very spots we also frequented. To watch the effects of the bomb at the Jimbaran seafood beach area where we had one of the most memorable and beautiful dining experiences in our lives, was utterly devastating. I cannot comprehend why anyone would try and blow up a beach full of happy diners from various races and backgrounds, be it international or local. The pictures of the aftermaths on the streets of Kuta left us feeling very hollow inside; we had shopped there for hours, cruising through the many streetshops and stalls.
Our hearts go out to the people of Bali - our tour guides and their famillies, the staff and shop owners who served us, the handicraft workers in the factories we visited, and all the locals on the island who earn a living through the revenues generated by tourism. They will have to mourn for their loved ones, their temporary loss of income, and for their dashed spirits, but I have every faith that the island will recover and rebuild themselves, and come out of this second tragedy stronger than before.

After a brief hiatus (due to a con travel agent, no less) we finally made it to Bali for my mom's company's Family Day. It was worth the wait - Bali is almost perfect as a tourist and holiday destination, for both couples and famillies. It has everything - the sun, beach, shopping, arts, culture & architecture, natural attractions (such as a live volcano with views similiar to Swiss Alps), etc. Plus everything is really cheap there due to the depreciation of the rupiah since early this year.

luv your pictures! Fri 14-Oct-2005 20:36

The weekend went very well, aside from the food and the (sayang tak jadi) poolside BBQ! But everything else - the beach, the resort (worth what we paid for), and the weather. It was held during the haze fiasco (what the heck was that??) so the trip was welcomed with open arms by everyone.
We played games, laughed at the kids, then laughed at the kids' parents being so kiasu to get their children to win.. and at night we laughed at fellow colleagues and bosses' playing everything from musical chairs to IO Fear Factor! Terror gila the guy who downed a glass full of blended sotong, watermelon, telur, BBQ chicken and sirap to win RM50. Eww!
The next day I even joined in a (gasp!) a game of water polo! Somehow playing it while wearing tracksuit, T-shirt and tudung doesnt quite cut it.

cool pics here keep uploading ok Wed 21-Sep-2005 10:49
